Two Little Truckers A Truckin'

Hello y'all and welcome to the blog...let's get amongst it...

Apologies for apparently misquoting the Guvna' of the Reserve Bank Australia, Glenn Stevens, but I'm very confused because I swear he said that 'there's no need for draconian fiscal tightening' but he apparently believes that the current proposed Federal Budget could have gone further...(wow, that is confusing, you sure it's him saying that, or is it just biased media reporting what it wants to say, what it wants people to hear regardless of the facts?-Ed)...no idea, it could just be that he truly believes that the proposed Budget isn't 'draconian' and therefore could/should be 'tougher'...

I'm Concerned: that the current Ebola virus outbreak in Sierra Leone continues to treated as a bit of a novelty in the Western sphere...I'd suggest that if it was a small European country that was shutting it's borders and/or it's neighbours closing theirs, and/or had whole suburbs closed off to stop the spread of the infection, then this might be more of a concern...and why in gourd's name would others go to the opposite extreme and fly it out of Africa to Spain and the USofA?...

In small media bites there are statements from the World Health Organisation and others that this is a perilous situation with global implications, but it doesn't seem to be such a concern elsewhere...and again the example of the 2 USofA citizens repatriated, treated, and apparently recuperated and released...in the many reports that have been on the ABC/BBC World Service programs there has been repeated reference to the many months of lag-time that the virus can exist in people who have survived an initial infection, yet in the USofA these people are out and about...(perhaps this 'treatment' completely kills off the virus hence no lag-Ed)...well, I hope you're right...

A Novel Idea: because everyone has one in them, apparently...(is that like an original thought-Ed)...not in my case because I'm shamelessly ripping off every popular theme/character/plot-line/whatevs that I can think of...(what's it called then?-Ed)...well I've got a few working titles but I'm more than open to suggestions/comments...(super, so what have you got thus far?-Ed)...well, it's about a wizard young chap  who's parents are dead to him because they wouldn't get him an i-Phone like everyone else has got...(mmm, already sounds like a modern mediocrity-Ed)...yeah, and he flies off to college and has a series of semi-interesting adventures with his new buddies...

(Mmm, yeah, again, it has promise, but it's sortta' a Tony Abbott promise isn't it-Ed)...you mean a lie...(well yes, but more philosophically in that there would seem to be a lot going on with plenty more to come, and yet it fails to deliver across the board...is there an interesting protagonist at least?-Ed)...oh heck yeah, Lord Mouldywart, he's like a real bastard...(Lord Mouldywart?...really?...is this where we're going is it?-Ed)...don't know what you mean...anyhoos, if it wasn't for our hero's companions the whole thing would be a disaster at the hands of the dastardly Mouldywart...but more tomorrow...

Happy Li'l Truckers: have got us a convoy Rubber Ducky...(ten four good buddy, you got your ears on?-Ed)...well yes, they're part of the whole head thing, but that's not the issue...2 of my favourite people have been trucking through the news with charming analogies about trucks...serial paedophile protector and vile Catholic reptile George Pell continues his lifelong odyssey to find the ultimate offense to heap upon those raped and abused by his precious bloody Catholics, by this week comparing priest's abuse of children with a truck driver who picks up and then assaults a hitch-hiker...(what the shreck?-Ed)...well quite...

His 'argument' was that the trucking company shouldn't/wouldn't be held responsible for that abuse...(what? how are those 2 things even slightly related?-Ed)...and as such it was perfectly reasonable and responsible for the Catholic Church to be deliberately structured and orchestrated to be legally removed from any official legal responsibility and/or liability re the actions of Catholic priests who abused children...(wow, he really is quite insane isn't he?...coherent but insane-Ed)...I don't know how else to put it Ed so I'm just going to agree with you...

This analogy is so wrong on so many levels, so inappropriate, and so indicative and insightful re the Catholic's/George Pell's mindset, that I'm not going to try and dissect it...if you cannot immediately see how wrong that statement is, there's no amount of me explaining it to you that's gunna' help...and our PM Tony 'Blazin' Saddles' Abbott is back in the driving seat of his l'íl red fire truck...(orrr, he's fire-trucking again is he?-Ed)...yes, I just said that...(it was a rhetorical question-Ed)...moving on...

PM Tony Abbott was using his fire-truck analogy months ago to address criticisms of his Budget...(indeed...fire-trucking his way to the 'Debt and Deficit Disaster' fire that was apparently so bad the fire-truck, with him at the wheel, was required to mow down a few fences...getting to the fire was such a priority a few fences were expendable-Ed)...and of course the problem with that analogy is that it de-humanises those most affected by the Budget...they're not people they're fences, and if they get knocked down well that's just a bitta' bad luck...

(I have this hilarious mind-cartoon of Tony in his little red truck barrelling through students, aged pensioners, the unemployed, those on the Disability Support Pension, etc, as they ping off to the sides or go under, and the sirens are wailing and the bells are ringing, all the lights flashing, and Christopher Pyne is hanging out the passenger window squealing with delight, and then they get to this billowing cloud of smoke only to find that it's Treasurer 'Smokin'' Joe Hockey and Finance Minister Mattias 'Always Blue' Cormann in Speedos, on banana lounges, choofing away on huge stogies-Ed)...wow, you paint an ugly picture not worth the words it's printed with...(thankyou-Ed)...

Cannabis Oil: is back in the headlines re the 3 year old child who was having 60+ seizures a day, who's parents were told to put him in palliative care (to die) and then were in trouble for giving him Cannabis Oil...now the Victorian Labor opposition has promised, if they win next years election, to legalise specific Medicinal Marijuana use in exceptional circumstances because it works...and if the ABC TV Landline program (amongst others) is reporting accurately, then we're about to lose our Industrial Hemp industry as well as the methodologies and other intellectual properties we have developed re MM but cannot apply commercially because we're so staggeringly retrograde on the issues of Hemp and/or MM...

For gourdness sake, again, put Cubbie Station under Hemp instead of the ridiculously water intensive, fertiliser sucking bloody Cotton...Hemp means less water, less fertiliser, greater yields of a far superior, stronger, more versatile textile...the same yields could be achieved at less cost over a smaller area with much less water which means that it could still be productive and economically viable, but a sizable area and associated water could be returned to the system, with say half of that reserved strictly for environmental options...(wow, you've put a lot of thought into that-Ed)...not really, it seems fairly obvious I'd have thought...get over it and get on with it...

And what the shreck happened to the allegations that Cubbie was illegally sold off to the Chinese by a corrupt Receiver McGrath Nichols to garner favour with the Chinese re future projects/contracts?...and what did our politicians do?...(sweet bugger all?-Ed)...even better...those few who did speak out about this sale, eg, the pre-2013 Federal Election version of the National Party's Barnaby Joyce...(ah, you mean before he sold out to Gina Rinehart, etc?-Ed)...indeed...well those people were vilified as being xenophobic...

The truth is not xenophobic, nor is it Rascist per se...for example, the complete load of bollocks that Right-Wing blowhard Andrew Bolt was pulled up on by the Court, where his 'Racial Vilification' was not just bigotted but found to be actually factually incorrect...(so not just the rantings of a lipless nit, but also wrong?-Ed)...yes indeed, all that and so much more...(it says so much that those words describe the Boltster, Rascist and Wrong-Ed)...right on...

And I couldn't help a wry expletive laden flip-out this morning when I was subjected to the screaming hypocrisy of the ABC's Stuart Stansfield solemnly introing and promoing a story by ABC Four Corners (tonight) about the reporter who 'exposed' the Catholic Church's Child Abuse behaviours in the Newcastle area (New South Wales)...and it read like a sleeve-note to my life...in conflict with the Church and Police to uncover these terrible crimes, etc, etc...it was exactly what I've lived for 12 years now...

And this woman is a hero apparently...(but you who has only done exactly the same only then some, you are a completely insane bastard who's just out to make trouble, openly vilified and demonised in the name of perpetuating the St Martins Lutheran School Child Abuse Cover-up-Ed)...ummm, yes...(and she gets a bloody award, a bloody award for doing her bloody job, and you get a bloody massive Court case hanging over your head and the derision of the community where you exist-Ed)...sortta' says a lot about Mt Gambier and South Australia don't you think...

But I don't begrudge her said award because I'm not interested in any kudos, I just want it done, and if someone offered me a bloody reward/an award/a bloody whatevs I reckon I'd fair dinkum' crown 'em with it...(I hear where you're comin' from dude-Ed)...and again it's on Late Afternoons with an actual interview with the journo Joanne McCarthy...good on her for doing what she's done, but in my world it's just such a galling contrast...

Ms McCarthy got a letter of thanks from Julia Gillard...(and you got?-Ed)...I got a 'gee whiz, so sad, not my problem' letter via the office of then Member Patrick Secker...and I completely disagree that the current Royal Commission will ultimately achieve anything much other than give people somewhere to talk about their abuses, because 1) it's not empowered to do anything much else, and 2) the Catholics for example aren't going to co-operate with providing documents.

I still maintain that ultimately it's as much a collective assuaging of guilt for our failures to protect children as it is all about being seen to be doing something, not least of all in a media environment where the debate cannot be fully controlled...(not that they haven't stopped trying, eg, the trouble you're in just for talking about the authority you've been forced to label the Banana Lord because you can't say their actual  name...probably-Ed)...yes, well, that's slightly tangential but I take your point...

Enough for today...I'll try to get through this Council and The Border Watch backlog of stuff...

Tomorrow: The Council Back Slap  Down

(Ah yes, what was that all about?-Ed)...tomorrow mate, promise...

I am Nick Fletcher and this is my blog...cheers and laters...
