Hello India, Turkey, Moldova, and Canada and welcome to the blog and another day when I as a basically first generation White Australian (Mum's a Pom) will again be hanging my head in collective shame...apologies to availees if you don't want me to get around all hang-dog-face on your behalf, but there you go...(and retro apology for bitsy post, no joke, wind getting gusty with storm approaching so my Interweb is dropping out).
And this morning it was being trumpeted that the National Broadband Network has commenced in several local locales greatly improving connectivity, but apparently not here...(it doesn't just happen, you have to sign on-Ed)...oh great...but I digress...
Only days out from NAIDOC Week PM Tony Abbott spews the most offensive tripe in defense of his selling off Australia to Asia, tripe about the British Occupation of Australia being 'Foreign Investment in an unsettled land', and then we have somehow intercepted a refugee boat (2?) somewhere and returned Sri Lankan refugees to the Sri Lankan government, the people they were fleeing, and now it's selling out Australians to Japan...a Free Trade Agreement with Japan is a farcical joke...
PM Abbott has, specific to Japan, raised the Investment Threshold that triggers the involvement/scrutiny of the Foreign Investment Review Board to $1billion...even if everything goes exactly to schedule with the time-lines of implementation and at the alleged rates, etc, this is giving Japan a $1billion free kick at Australian assets...it is not a bloody coincidence that Tony Abbott has been screeching about Oz being "Open For Business" and pushing state Premiers to sell off State Assets, eg, buildings, and Japan getting unscrutinised investment to $1b...
I know virtually nothing of Economics and Finance but even I can see that this is a massive win for Japan and a disaster for us, on promises of things that will sort of happen a bit kind of in our favour...nothing we trade to Japan compensates for any paddock sold...(didn't we also just sign a $1b Investment Threshold deal with Sth Korea?-Ed)...exactly, and they're going to do the same with China...3 deals that make us completely vulnerable to massive foreign control of our country, be it buildings or barns, office towers or fields of flowers, prime real estate or real prime steak, whatevs...
And that's why it is not Rascist or Xenophobic or anything other than genuine and absolute concern for my community and my Country that drives my opposition to these alleged Free Trade deals...and I'd like to thank even applaud Tony Abbott, Scott Morrison, Eric
Abetz, George Brandis, et al, for their rank Right White-Wing Politics
because it helps me to a much better opinion of myself...cheers.
Feedback: Whilst I genuinely appreciate the recent contact re the 'ínappropriate' Guy Fawkes joke paragraph, which I subsequently removed...(and we're sort of flattered and definitely buoyed that someone gives a damn enough to care about what happens on the blog and seems to give a damn about our welfare as well-Ed)...indeed, but just for the record, last night on the Shaun Micallef 'Mad As Hell' repeat (ABC) he made several references to shooting politicians, etc...it's about establishing an appropriate context of recognised satire, which I thought I was doing/had done...anyhoos, it's still cheers for the feedback...
Although when I say 'we' I of course mean 'me' because 'Ed' is not a person, well not another person, 'Ed' is me using a linguistic thingy to have conversations with readers not lecture them, discuss conflicting opinions, etc, without just listing them off, it's a good platform for setting up jokes...(alleged jokes-Ed)...alleged jokes, etc, etc...there is nought but me...
A Great Big I Told You So: completely sans any sense of victory or joy because I'd much rather be very, very wrong, as Anti-Fracking protestors (approx 35?) attended the State Administration building in Adelaide to deliver an 'Anti-Fracking' petition only to be refused entry or contact with Minister Tom Koutsontonis or anyone from his office/dept...just running an interview on ABC with one of the organisers/attendees David Smith stating that despite notifying Tommy K of their intentions, they had to hand their petition to the Security people...(doesn't that render it 'un-official' though, and technically irrelevant? doesn't it have to go directly into the hands of the Member and/or the Minister or some such?-Ed)...not sure, but that sure sounds familiar.
It's a good question to which I don't have an answer...but it's largely irrelevant given that Labor have no intention of listening to some bunch of whinging in-breds from Pigsknuckle, Arkansas, and that's exactly what we are to these half-wits...(inbreds, halfwits, you've got a kind word for everybody-Ed)...and just watching our illustrious leader Premier Jay Weatberill stating that he/Labor is going to axe all Committees and Boards because he's all about, "...going directly to people."
I'm not going to even attempt to paraphrase the extraordinary rhetoric he's been flinging everywhere today about how Labor want to remove the barriers between government and the people, nor will I express how galling this is given the completely arrogance-masking-cowardice of failing to even front the 2 huge Pubilc Rallies Against the South East Forestry Sale...thousands of people from the South East, twice, and the gutless pricks couldn't even face them...pathetic...
Then of course there's the former Premier Mike Rann and Mr Weatherill's repeated refusals to meet parents re the role they have both played in the St Martins Lutheran School Child Abuse Cover-up...and so many other examples of avoiding the people...(oo oo, when Parliament sat in Mt Gambier in May 2005 and Rann snuck in the backdoor to avoid a handful of pensioners and kids protesting the imminent closing of the public bus service-Ed)...indeed he did...and now the Fracking protestors are made to stand in the lobby and talk to security...
Like I say, no joy in being right about this, but what exactly has to happen before y'all realise that y'all gettin' Frickin' Frackin' and there ain't not nuthin' that no-one's gonna do to help y'all to stop it...you can go to Adelaide with all the petitions you want, eg the hugely successful 6,600 Flouride Choice Petition that then Member Don Pegler simply handed to Labor who just shelved/shredded/whatevs it, and we got Fluoridation within weeks...Democracy my arse...
The rest of the world is embracing Solar and/or Geo-thermal Electricity generation, electric cars, etc, and moving away from Coal/Gas/whatevs, and even Wind Turbines, but not in South Australia, no sir...here we have openly Fascist, apparently pro-paedophile sociopaths running the show, self-serving lunatics who are about to force Fracking on the South East with complete disregard for the Community and the Environment, and not even charge Royalties...(that is truly criminal...I mean the rest of it is bad enough, but not taking Royalties is just crass criminality-Ed)...next...
There was a big song and dance about how the new WIN TV '90 Seconds in an Ad break and be bloody grateful for it plebs' News Service was graciously bought to us by The Border Watch, particularly the 'news feed', and not a mention of anybody else...but a couple of weeks back WIN didn't quite get their closing promos/credits right, saying it was proudly bought to us by The Murray Pioneer...
Pope Apologises Frankly: for the "Sacrilegious Cult" of Paedophilia in the Catholic Church...(great news, I guess that means that they'll now be handing over all of those documents about paedophile priests and the lengths the Cathos have gone to to cover it all up by moving priests, attacking victims and witnesses, etc-Ed)...no...(sorry, what?-Ed)...no, Pope Frank's apology doesn't run to actually doing anything about it...(business as usual then?-Ed)...you were expecting different?
And no wonder I get confused, because this talk of boats from India, Sri Lankan asylum seekers, Tamils and Sinhalese, etc, is apparently about 2(?) boats totalling approx 200 people, who have fled Sri Lanka to a refugee camp in India (where there is a Tamil population) but have then left there for Australia, and just now the news that a second boat carrying 150 people has been 'intercepted in Australian waters' but won't be handed over without 72 hours notice, whatever that means...
Going to just stop here whilst still have connection, deadset, the winds getting up and I could lose my connection again at any point and it doesn't save properly, etc, cheers.
Tomorrow: Council Stuff
Promise...a dot point thing about stuff...
I am Nick Fletcher and this is my blog...cheers and laters...
