A Lotta' Lottery Jiggery-Pokery: as the 'Mayor Steve Perryman has won $1million in Lotto' rumour has re-surfaced, allegedly stemming from the Perryman's themselves, again, and/or Mr Steve has been splashing the cash about...and not a word of a lie, but the general concensus, actually the 100% concensus is that it's a dodgy explanation for spending otherwise unaccountable wealth...it remains incumbent of the Mayor, given his position, to address these persistent rumours...
Deeply Upsetting: to be listening to an ABC interview with (sorry?) re Hearing Loss in Aboriginal kids because of Middle-ear Infection problems...I remember this was a big issue 20+ years ago, yet little seems to have changed...just gobsmacked to learn that the World Health Organisation sets a global average of 4% yet in Aboriginal communities it's routinely around 80%, and is still currently at 70% on the APY Lands, where teachers are using sound systems and Public Address systems in classrooms...
Issues of Antibiotics courses not being completed are partly responsible, but apparently swimming pools recently installed in communities have not helped to clean kids ears, as apparently was the intent, and have actually made the problem worse...the interviewee referred to this as "sheep-dip medicine" and "a falsehood", and that SA Health and the Education Dept, etc, are doing more testing and more screening, etc, but that this is already and will continue to be a huge problem for Employability, etc, and dealing with Police, Corrections, Courts, etc...
The sums of money discussed, $1.3b for only 30,000 Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people in SA which equates to approx $50k per person, sounds like a lot of money, and it is, but the disgraceful lack of results shows that it's being poorly directed...and he didn't say it but I will, and it is well and widely reported that monies are being routinely rorted by management, staff, and contractors of some Aboriginal organisations, Welfare providers, etc...
Given that State and Federal governments are so mad keen to control every infinite detail of our lives, how is it not absolute governmental responsibility that 70% of Aboriginal children are going deaf from an easily preventable infection....it's an absolute bloody disgrace and I hang my fat white head in shame...and I whinge about my knees hurting, whatta' dick I am...(no mate, you have every right to be concerned for your own health and relevant service provision, outcomes, etc, this is just an entirely unacceptable situation-Ed)...
Will you at least join me in slinging vile abuse at the Rann/Weatherill Labor government for selling the SE Forestry Estate at only $670m (only two thirds it's worth) and blowing the lot on a $90m bribe to the SA Cricket Assoc and the entirely unnecessary shreckin' Adelaide Oval while this terrible situation, amongst others, continues unabated?...(join you?
