Hello everyone, welcome to the Party Political Pantomime Show...you're just in time as our heroes are coming down the stairs, still in their pyjamas;
"Morning L1."
"Morning L2."
"Nice pyjamas L1...Italian silk?"
"Yes L2...thank god I didn't have to pay for them."
"Tax-payer funded credit card, L1?"
"Tax-payer funded credit card, L2." (both laugh heartilly)
"Say L1, I can't find my policies anywhere...have you seen my policies?"
"Ah...no, L2.. I haven't seen your policies."
"I know I had some policies here somewhere L1, but I just can't seem to find them.....Hang on, what's that you're hiding behind your back L1?"
"Ah...nothing L2...certainly not a thick dossier of your policies and party agenda."
"Say L1, aren't those my pyjamas?...and are those my policies?...Now L1, you know I don't mind you borrowing my things, but if you're not careful people will think you're me...hey wait I'm L1...you're L2."
"Oh...um..er...um, oh, look L2, here comes a convenient distraction...my friend Election, the giant red herring."
Ah, god, I can't do this any longer; there is nothing funny about the position that Australians find themselves (ourselves) in.
There will be no actual governing for 8 months; nothing but electioneering.
Calling the election 8 months out is a disaster for Australia, but hugely personally beneficial for Julia Gillard, whom has demonstrated she will trample on any colleague, party branch, and/or democratic convention to get what she wants for herself when she wants it; she is Mike Rann on a Federal scale.
Labor can now stonewall all the way to the election, refusing to answer questions about the past (all the things that have gone and/or are still going wrong), by referring to the unfunded promises they've been making about Disability, Dental Care programs, (both to replace things they've just cut), etc.
It means that no matter how many of her colleagues abandon the clearly sinking ship, or get jailed or whatever, there will be no by-elections (bound to be embarassing losses, probaly compromising the government) between now and September 2013
The Labor party has completely trumped the Liberal party by simply stealing all their policies, and therefore voting base, and by definition betray the 'Labor values' that are apparently located somewhere on the moral highground that Labor constantly declare is theirs.
Australia doesn't stand a chance; you/we are being betrayed by both parties, whom, for example, both have representatives (eg, Mark Vale, Bob Hawke) overseas furiously trying to sell off huge chunks of Australia to foreign governments.
The Greens are such a complicit irrellevence they don't even deserve a mention...oops...damn.
And most concerning: the Independents like Tony Windsor and Nick Xenophon are fully supportive of the calling of the Election; both have said it is a good thing.
Yet again, it comes down to a question of what is ignorance and incompetence, and what is complicit corruption.
When both major parties, the Greens, and the Independents are all subscribing to the same farcical pantomime (8 months of election campaign), they demonstrate a degree of collusion that fundamentally betrays Australia.
And the crowning glory; that Julia Gillard would kick it all off with the biggest lie of all, that this is not an 8 month election campaign; and, again, everyone's on board, including the Canberra press gallery.
Betrayal and disgrace are 2 words that will frequent this blog.
